Anne-Marie grew up in the Ottawa Valley near Pembroke and moved to Ottawa after completing her post-secondary education. After a decade of working in the healthcare field, Anne-Marie decided to make a career change and so commenced her studies at the University of Ottawa, starting with her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography (French Immersion) degree, followed by two law degrees. She was one of 19 students accepted into the University of Ottawa’s combined Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Licentiate in Law (LL.L.) program, which was designed to allow select students to obtain two law degrees in three years via courses combining practicum from both Canadian legal systems (Common Law and Civil Law). Anne-Marie is fluently bilingual, having obtained both her J.D. and LL.L. degrees in French and English.
Prior to joining Hooper Litigation, Anne-Marie completed internships in military administrative law, real estate law, and federal employment and government law. She articled at a prominent civil litigation firm located in Timmins, during which time she worked closely with both partners of the firm on Accident Benefits claims, including claims for catastrophic impairment; motor vehicle accidents (car, motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV and railway accidents); personal injury; and professional malpractice matters.
Anne-Marie practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, Accident Benefits claims, professional liability and disability insurance claims. Her previous career in the healthcare field gives her a unique insight into the Plaintiff’s and Defendant’s positions, including the need for understanding, compassion and empathy.
When not in the office, Anne-Marie enjoys hiking, singing, photography and travelling.
